Hi! Welcome to a short Cebuano lesson.
In English, you often greet someone with “hello” or “hi.”
In Cebuano, there’s no direct word for “hello.” People usually greet you by the time of day.
In the morning, you say: “Maayong buntag!”
That means “Good morning.”
Let’s break it down:
Maayo means good.
Buntag means morning.
You may notice it becomes maayong.
That -ng is a linker. It connects an adjective to a noun.
Here, it connects maayo (good) to buntag (morning).
You’ll see this a lot in Cebuano.
Now say it out loud with me:
Maayong buntag!
Again: Maayong buntag!
Practice it, and use it in real life.
That was your first short Cebuano lesson. More to come.
Kita ta! (See you!)
